GP Practice Management Ireland is the country’s first and original online resource dedicated to supporting Practice Managers — and it remains completely free to use. Our platform delivers up-to-date news, guidance, and practical resources designed to help practices operate smoothly, efficiently, and with confidence in an ever-changing healthcare environment.
Our Story
Founded in 2019 by a group of Practice Managers, our mission was simple: to create a collaborative network where knowledge, practical advice, and resources could be shared freely.
What started as daily exchanges quickly grew into a thriving community, culminating in our first national Practice Management Conference in February 2020.
Recognising the need for a more accessible platform, we launched PracticeManagement.ie—a dedicated space for information sharing, professional support, and connecting with peers.
Just one week after our inaugural conference, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. During this challenging time, our community’s value was clear: information was shared rapidly, and managers supported each other selflessly, reflecting the professionalism and commitment at the heart of our network.

When I started out in practice management, dedicated support for Practice Managers was virtually non-existent. Practices operated independently, with little opportunity to share knowledge, guidance, or advice. Many managers felt isolated, navigating daily challenges alone. From the outset, I recognised the need for a broader platform where managers and practice leaders could connect, learn, and support one another.
In the early 2000s, I collaborated with fellow managers to develop the Practice Managers Handbook for the HSE. Over time, attending annual meetings and professional gatherings reinforced the importance of creating a unified space for GPs and Practice Managers to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration.
While managing a busy practice, I pursued a BSc in Health Service Management in 2003, balancing studies with family life—marriage and three children—proving that dedication and perseverance make all the difference.
Inspired by a remarkable community of managers, in 2019 we launched PracticeManagement.ie, Ireland’s first dedicated platform for sharing expertise, resources, and professional support. Today, it continues to serve and connect Practice Managers across the country.
As a proud Dubliner, I live by the saying, “You can share an egg”—reflecting my personal and professional ethos: supporting one another costs nothing.
