Every practice has their own internal policies most are similar to below, we have created a guideline to help.
- Policy for new patients
- Policy for aggression and threatening behaviour from patients
- Chaperone policy – GP indemnity company will advise and provide posters for awareness

- Complaints policy – its good practice to have somewhere patients can give feedback or issue the practice with a complaint. Therefore having such documents on your website or available in a central place at your practice for patients convenience.
- GDPR policy : GDPR was introduced in May 2018 – practices must demonstrate they are compliant and meeting requirements.
- Computer Hardware and software policy:
- Backup – if you don’t use external company who is responsible for manual backups
- Hardware and software maintenance and upkeep
- Disaster Recovery plan
- Critical incidents or Events – Policy on who records and reports such events. A computerised record to record all events that need to addressed.
- Emergency Equipment /Medicine Policy: who is responsible for calibration and upkeep of medicine expiry dates and oxygen ordering.
- Fridge & vaccine storage policy – accountability to record fridge at correct temperature
- Communications policy and consent from patients to text or email
